Volos, one of the most beautiful places in Greece, is a coastal port city in Thessaly, where the BCThubs International Conference “Widening the Big Blue Horizon” will be hosted on December 4-6, 2024.
The are many ways to get to Volos:

- BUS (4h): KTEL Liosion Street to Volos
Buses depart every 2 hours from Liosion Station (click here) the duration of the trip is about 4 hours and a one-way ticket costs 26-35 euros (click here). To get to Liosion Station from Athens International Airport E. Venizelos, you can either take a taxi or bus X93. This bus departs every 30-40 mins and the duration of the trip is approximately 60 mins.

Important: Note that the buses to Volos depart from Liosion Station and not KTEL Kifisou which is the final stop of bus X93.
- TRAIN (5h 22min): Athens Railway Station to Volos (via Larisa)
Trains depart from Athens Railway Station “Stathmos Larissis”. There are 3-4 departures per day (click here) and a one-way ticket costs 37-44 euros. The train arrives in Larisa station and from there you have to transfer to a bus that takes you directly to Volos. To get to “Stathmos Larissis” from Athens International Airport E. Venizelos, you can either take a taxi (30min/70-85 euros, Uber or Freenow/max. 54 euros) or the Athens Suburban train – line Airport-Piraeus (44min/10 euros) or bus X95 and change to Syntagma Square and get Metro line 2.

- BUS (2h20mins): KTEL Macedonia to Volos
Buses depart every 2 hours from “Macedonia” Intercity Bus Station (KTEL) (click here). Τhe duration of the trip is about 2 hours and 20 mins and a one-way ticket costs about 20 euros (click here).
To get to “Macedonia” Intercity Bus Station from the Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia, you can either take a taxi or bus 01X. This bus departs every 20-25mins and the duration of the trip is approximately 50-55 mins.

- TRAIN (2h45mins – 5h45mins): Thessaloniki Railway Station to Volos (via Larisa)
Trains depart from the New Railway Station of Thessaloniki. There are multiple departures per day (click here). Trains arrive in Larissa and from there you have to transfer to a bus that takes you directly to Volos. A one-way ticket costs 37-44 euros. To get to the New Railway Station of Thessaloniki from the Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia, you can either take a taxi or bus 01X. This bus departs every 20-25 mins and the duration of the trip is approximately 50 mins.
- DRIVE 206km (2h 10min)
You can always rent a car from the Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia. Approximate fuel cost 41-58 euros (price estimate does not include rental car fees and tolls).
