Dive into History 360° Workshop in Greece

“Dive into History 360°: Exploring Innovative Approaches to Sustainable Marine Tourism through Blue Culture Technologies”

Between November 13 and 27, 2024, under Task 4.1 of the BCThubs project, a series of 11 school visits were carried out in Larissa, Volos, Almyros, and Agria, Greece. The initiative aimed to raise awareness and educate participants on the opportunities offered by Blue Culture Technologies (BCT) for the preservation, protection, and accessibility of Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH).

The sessions engaged both high school and vocational education students specializing in the tourism sector, together with their instructors and trainers, reaching a total of 230 participants (199 students and 31 educators). The workshops also introduced the role of the BCThubs project, while providing an innovative and memorable educational experience that showcased the value and beauty of UCH through advanced technologies.

In addition, the sessions highlighted the benefits of using VR systems in tourism, the importance of eco-friendly practices in marine tourism, and presented case studies of successful sustainable tourism models.

This was a unique opportunity to inspire the next generation of tourism professionals, fostering awareness, creativity, and a deeper commitment to safeguarding our shared underwater heritage.
