Training Camp in Malta

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the BCThubs Training Camp, organized by DAN Europe (Divers Alert Network Europe), set to take place at the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) in Gozo, Malta. This unique training program is designed specifically for diving enthusiasts who are looking to deepen their understanding of marine research and enhance their professional skills for career advancement.

The BCThubs Training Camp is an exclusive opportunity that will run from June 30th to July 11th. It promises an intensive two-week schedule where participants will gain hands-on experience in diving-related research. This is not just any training program; it’s a chance to work closely with seasoned experts in the field, engaging directly in activities that bolster both practical and theoretical knowledge.

Who Can Apply

This program is tailored for undergraduate and graduate students from colleges and universities, as well as early-stage researchers from private organizations, including those pursuing postgraduate studies. We aim to cultivate a diverse group of interns who are passionate about diving and eager to leverage this opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Internship Details

A maximum of eight interns will be selected for this year’s camp, ensuring personalized mentorship and ample opportunities for each participant to engage deeply with the curriculum and fieldwork. It’s important to note that while the internship does not offer compensation, DAN will provide comprehensive logistic support including the organization of travel and accommodations for all participants.

Participant Requirements

Intern candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years old by June 1st in the year of application
  • Have a scientific educational background
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Have a proven interest in diving, as all activities are diving focused

Required documents

  • A completed Application form by the deadline of April 30th.
  • Professional/academic resume
  • Diving resume (number of dives, environmental and depth range, specialties/certifications)
  • Cover letter (maximum two pages) describing your history (including activities related to diving), interests, aspirations and how the internship will enhance your personal and professional growth.
