BCThubs presentation at the XXV Symposium on Mediterranean Archaeology (SOMA 2024)

BCThubs was presented by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage (SCH) during the 25th Symposium on Mediterranean Archaeology (XXV SOMA), which was held at the Education and Presentation Centre for Underwater Archaeology of St. Nicholas hosted by the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology (ICUA)Zadar, Croatia, from 25 to 27 April 2024. The international scientific conference was a great opportunity to bring together experts from various countries, with participation from representatives of Italy, Slovenia, Turkey, Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, Montenegro, Malta, Egypt, Poland, Hungary, and Croatia.

The SOMA 2024 symposium, titled ‘’Mediterranean – history as it once has been”, highlighted recent achievements in archaeological research, cultural heritage protection, and preservation within the Mediterranean region. Distinguished experts, scientists, and students shared their findings in lectures and poster presentations.

SCH submitted a BCThubs poster and presented the project’s aims, highlighting the objectives and progress to date, along with a description of the UW research support services and capabilities that are to be implemented and showcased during the project’s lifecycle. Moreover, SCH informed the attendants about the project’s upcoming 1st International Conference to be held in Volos, Greece with a view to attract the submission of more scientific papers and increase the number of conference participants. Finally, bilateral discussions were held between SCH representatives and participants who expressed their interest to be further informed about BCThubs and the available options to participate and support the project.
