Stakeholder Mobility Programme

Step inside another stakeholder's world.

Spend at least one working week embedded with another BCThubs stakeholder. Exchange skills in Blue Culture Technologies, share methodologies, and build the kind of working relationships that turn into joint papers, prototypes — even new field schools.

What is a secondment?

A short residency between BCThubs stakeholders.

At least one working week embedded with another organisation in the network — not visiting, not touring, but truly working alongside the team.

You'll work alongside a dedicated mentor, contribute to live activities, transfer methods in both directions, and embed yourself in the host's ecosystem. Secondments can be regional or cross-border within the consortium.

Expression of interest, not a commitment Both application forms gather your interest and skills. The hub matches candidates with hosts and facilitates a planning conversation before anything is finalised — no commitment is made until both organisations and the hub agree on the details.
Two ways in

Apply to send or to host.

Every secondment is a match between a sending and a hosting organisation. Both submit a short expression of interest; the hub does the matching.

Why apply

What past secondees took home.

The methodology has been refined over multiple cycles. Beyond what's in the official report, these are the threads that come up in every evaluation conversation.

Hands-on skill transfer

Learn methodologies, tools and workflows on-site — from photogrammetry and ROV missions to commercial diving procedures and conservation registration.

Stakeholder networks

Build working relationships across academia, SMEs, public bodies and dive operators in the BCThubs network — the kind that survive the project.

Regional & cross-border

Whether you stay in your region or travel to another country, the structure is the same — a short, focused residency with a clear plan.

Mentor-led structure

Every secondment has a named mentor at the host, plus standardised orientation, agreement and reporting templates — no improvisation required.

Concrete joint outputs

Past secondments have led to co-authored papers, ROV pilot deployments, and even cross-border field schools — like SCH Malta partnering with BHF Bulgaria.

Living methodology

Each secondment feeds the BCThubs Live Guide of Good Practices — your experience improves the programme for everyone who comes after you.

Voices from the field

What past secondees said about it.

How it works

A five-phase cycle, refined over time.

Each hub acts as facilitator and intermediary throughout — from your first form to the final evaluation.

1
Anytime

Application

Submit either the Hosting or Secondee form on a hub website — an expression of interest, not a commitment.

2
1–2 weeks

Matching & planning

Hubs consolidate applications, find matches and bring sender and host together to agree dates, mentor and scope.

3
Until 1 week before

Pre-secondment

Standardised pack: orientation guide, signed agreement, guidelines and KPIs, plus the Live Guide of Good Practices.

4
≥ 5 working days

Secondment

Briefing on arrival, named mentor throughout, daily report, and a debrief session at the end. Dive logs where applicable.

5
2 weeks after

Evaluation

Both secondee and mentor complete evaluation forms. The hub cross-references and updates the Live Guide.

Applications open year-round

Ready to spend a week at a partner's workbench?

Whether you have someone to send or capacity to host, the application form takes only a few minutes to complete. The hub takes it from there.
