BCThubs at the University of Malta Maritime Platform International Conference

The BCThubs project was prominently featured at the University of Malta Maritime Platform International Conference, held from May 5 to 7, 2025, in Malta. This high-level event, titled “Innovation in Marine & Maritime Sustainable Developments: Research and Applications,” was organized under the auspices of the University of Malta Maritime Platform (UMP).

The conference brought together a diverse community of academics, researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers to explore the latest innovations and applications in marine and maritime sustainability. It served as a vital forum for discussing strategies that address future challenges across the marine sector, with a focus on sustainable practices, effective resource management, and environmental stewardship.

Representing BCThubs, the DAN Europe Foundation—through Prof. Alessandro Marroni and Anton Motivans from Superintendence of Cultural Heritage —delivered a dedicated presentation titled:
“New and Innovative Technologies Being Developed by Blue Culture Technology Hubs for the Exploration, Preservation, and Accessibility of Underwater Cultural Heritage within the Blue Economy.”

The presentation highlighted the cutting-edge technologies being developed within the BCThubs project, particularly those advancing Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH) through research, innovation, and enhanced accessibility. These innovations contribute directly to the integrative and sustainable development of the marine and maritime industries, aligning closely with the conference’s overarching mission.

Through its active participation, BCThubs strengthened its visibility and reinforced its commitment to supporting sustainable blue growth, bridging heritage preservation with technological advancement.
