Blue Futures Lab: Day 1 Practice Run Successfully Completed in Malta

On 26 May 2026, the BCThubs Malta Hub successfully completed the first day of the Blue Futures Lab, an entrepreneurial bootcamp dedicated to supporting innovative ideas in the blue economy and underwater cultural heritage sectors.

The Day 1 Practice Run took place in Malta and was co-organised by the Maltese partners, under the leadership of the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage (SCH), which also moderated the session. The event was hosted at the premises of AquaBioTech Group (ABT).

The session provided participating mentees with the opportunity to rehearse and refine their business pitches in a supportive, interactive and constructive environment. Throughout the day, mentors, partners and jury members offered valuable feedback, helping the teams improve the clarity, structure and impact of their presentations.

The mentorship programme, delivered over the past two months by experts from Credence, AquaBioTech Group, DAN EUROPE and the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), played an important role in preparing the mentees for this stage of the bootcamp. Special thanks are also extended to the jury members from ABT and ITS, who assessed the pitches from scientific, regulatory and business perspectives.

Following the successful completion of the Practice Run, the Blue Futures Lab now moves towards Day 2 – The Final Pitch, which will take place on 29 May 2026. During the final session, the mentees will present their refined, investment-ready business ideas to an expanded jury panel, including representatives from the investment sector.

The BCThubs consortium looks forward to the final presentations and to supporting the continued development of promising entrepreneurial ideas contributing to the future of the blue economy.
