Atlantis Consulting S.A. participated in THALASSA 2026, held in Larnaca, Cyprus, on 21–22 May 2026, presenting the BCThubs project through a scientific poster entitled “Establishing Blue Culture Technology Excellence Hubs as regional innovation ecosystems for the sustainable protection and preservation of Underwater Cultural Heritage.”
The poster was presented by Angelos Manglis, on behalf of Atlantis Consulting S.A., together with co-authors Anastasia Fourkiotou, Elena Tilegrafou, and Polyvios Raxis. It focused on the role of Blue Culture Technology Excellence Hubs as regional innovation ecosystems that support the sustainable protection, preservation, accessibility, and promotion of Underwater Cultural Heritage.
The presentation highlighted how digital technologies, such as VR/AR, 3D and 4D representations, digital platforms, and immersive applications, can support the documentation, management, and promotion of underwater cultural heritage when integrated into broader sustainability-oriented strategies.
Through the BCThubs project, three regional hubs are being established in Greece, Malta, and Bulgaria, bringing together research, industry, public authorities, cultural heritage institutions, and blue economy stakeholders. The poster also presented the project’s key strategic pillars, including underwater research, physical and remote access to UCH, monitoring and safeguarding, and safe underwater operations.
Participation in THALASSA 2026 offered an important opportunity to share the BCThubs approach and demonstrate how regional innovation ecosystems can contribute to the long-term protection and sustainable valorisation of underwater cultural heritage.
